David Tolentino

David is the founder and President of The Cinder Project. He has the responsibility of guiding the ministry in its vision and overall calling. His passion and gifts are in discipleship, and he takes seriously the role of pastoring the students and employees of Cinder and its subsequent ministries.

David is a graduate of Lee University with a Bachelor of Science in Youth Ministry. He married his college sweetheart, Meredith, and they live in Fort Mill, SC with their puppy, Roxy.

David and a group of friends and family founded a fledgling ministry called Southtown Riders in 2002; a ministry who’s heart was to reach the action sports community and youth of Charlotte through wakeboarding.  David, an avid wakeboarder, would teach wakeboarding and preach the gospel from the back of a boat, spreading the hope and love of Christ through the tools of the outdoors and sports.  By 2005, the ministry had grown to include a thriving wakeboard summer camp, skateboard team, and even a nationwide bus tour promoting a devotional book called, “Fire in the Core.” David poured out his heart and soul in the book, sharing testimony of where and from what the Lord had delivered him. David also authored the devotionals found throughout the book.

Spring of 2008 is when The Cinder Project started, due to a need for focus in the ministries. SouthTown continued on with wakeboarding, and The Cinder Project was born to minister to skateboarders.  Ever since, David has been managing and leading Cinder Skatepark as a ministry to the local Charlotte skateboarding community.

David’s talents are many, which comes in handy for the variety of needs The Cinder Project has. He is a skilled graphic artist, painter, musician and speaker. While he does enjoy skating, he also loves golf, wakeboarding, disc golf and the occasional baseball game. David is a fish aquarium enthusiast, loves settling in with a great book, but his favorite way to relax is playing the latest and greatest game on Xbox live.
